Hip Hop & Rap Competitions -  Thurs 25th Sept 

15h00 – 18h00 in Festival Tent

 

- R1 000 cash first prize per category

   plus demo song recording session for Rap winner

- R500 cash second prize per category

- Categories are: 1. Rap 2. Breakdancing, 3. Poping, Locking, Krumping & B-Boy

- Registration is from 14h30 - 15h00 for free

- Judges:

   Bliksemstraal - B-Boy

- Guest Artist Performances

There will be three categories:

1. Popping, Locking & Krumping

2. Breakdancing

3. Rap

Promoting healthy eating habits for all school children is an urgent need in our communities.

 

  •   Schools Art Competition - hosted by Lalela Project

Closing Date:  19th September

Theme:  My Hout Bay

Entries have closed for this competition and the best works are on display at the Mainstream Centre shop opposite Clicks.

  •    Hout Bay's Got Talent 

Semi-finalists will be announced on the night of the 18th.

Hout Bay's first ever official "Hout Bay's Got Talent Contest" hopes to rustle up all those hidden talents in our community and show the world what we can do! Does your granny moonwalk? Do you tango on your head? Can your pet frog whistle the national anthem? Then this contest is for you! Come watch contestants wow the audience, laugh, cry, celebrate! Great prizes include a PSP and an IPAD!
Round 1: Sept 18th, Semis finals Sept 25th, Finals Sept 28th.

2014 Hout Bay’s Got Talent Contest

Rules and Regulations:

 

To be eligible to compete in the 2014 Hout Bay’s Got Talent (HBGT) Contest entry forms and a R20.00 registration fee must be received by 12th September 2014.

 

Participation is limited to 10 people at a time and entries will be admitted to the contest in the order received.  A Maximum of 18 acts will be admitted to Round 1. Participants may only perform ONCE in any round.

 

The contest is open to all ages.

 

There will be a semi-final concert on September the 25th and the finalist’s concert will take place on September the 28th.

 

There will a 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd and 4th place with various prizes. These winners will be announced after the Finalists concert, on the night of the 28th.

 

All contestants must present themselves in a professional way and with reasonable talent. No animal acts or dangerous acts will be permitted. The HBGT Contest is a family friendly environment, no explicit content/lyrics are allowed. Any entry that is uncooperative, under the influence of drugs or alcohol, uses profanity, or displays any actions perceived unacceptable by the Fair event staff, or the competition judges, will be disqualified from the competition and removed from the venue. No refunds will be provided.

 

Each contestant will be required to perform one talent of their choice, and the same talent for all three rounds. Each contestant is required to provide the props (instrumental accompaniment, tracks, props, etc.) for the talent they will be performing or they may perform unaided.

 

For singers: songs that have accompaniment must have instrumental accompanying tracks ONLY (no vocals).  Instrumental tracks may be submitted in the following forms only: standard CD or MP3 player.  The only sound equipment provided by HBGT will be microphones, monitors, and main PA. 

 

Any equipment such as instruments, amplifiers, etc., is the responsibility of the participants.

 

Acts will have a maximum of 3 minutes set up time and a maximum of 3 minutes to perform.

Winners will be selected by a panel of qualified judges based on the following criteria:

 

TALENT                                                    50%

PROFESSIONALISM                                   15%

APPEARANCE                                            10%

AUDIENCE REACTON                                 25%

 

The highest overall score wins. Tie scores will be reviewed and final placement determined by a judge’s panel discussion. The judges’ decisions are final.
